PUC to Consider Bankruptcy-Filing Probe

Share

The California Public Utilities Commission will meet Thursday in San Francisco to consider several items, including possibly launching an investigation into how the bankruptcy-protection filing by Pacific Gas & Electric Co. will affect ratepayers and power supplies. In other energy matters, Sempra Energy, parent of Southern California Gas and San Diego Gas & Electric, will hold its annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday in New York, followed on Friday by an informational meeting in Southern California for shareholders. The local meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the Irvine Marriott, 18000 Von Karman Ave. Shareholders in New York will be voting on the reelection of four directors and on shareholder proposals to reelect the entire board of directors each year, to require a simple majority approval to pass resolutions rather than the currently required approval of two-thirds of shareholders. Sempra management has opposed both shareholder proposals.
