Meanwhile, the Comets want to do something no team has done to the Sparks in 2001: Win the season series. Of more importance to Houston is finding momentum going into the playoffs. The Comets, trying to hang on to second in the Western Conference, are 4-6 in their last 10 games. Even more alarming to Coach Van Chancellor, Houston is 1-4 in its last five road games, the latest jolt a 72-55 loss to Seattle on Wednesday. The Sparks haven’t lost since June 24 in New York, and if they can win their last three games they would finish with the most regular-season wins in WNBA history.
