7 Children Killed While Watching Rail Repairs
From Times Wire Reports
An express train struck and killed seven children as they watched a railroad track being repaired in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, police said.
The accident occurred at the Chanpatia train station in West Champaran district, northwest of Patna, Bihar’s capital.
The children’s ages ranged from 5 to 12, railway Inspector-General V. Narayanan said in Patna. Narayanan said the driver of the Bandra Express did not apply the brakes because the high-speed train could have derailed.
