Hitler Was Religious
Letter writer Vince Basehart (Aug. 24) is mistaken if he thinks Hitler wasn’t religious. As Hitler plainly wrote in “Mein Kampf,” he felt he was obeying the Christian God. “I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord” (Volume 1, Chapter II).
If Hitler wasn’t a card-carrying Christian, most of his Nazi followers and German citizens were. The Holocaust was the culmination of 2,000 years of Christian hatred toward Jews.
