Evidence Links Suharto Son to Slaying, Police Say
Indonesian police said they have enough evidence linking Hutomo “Tommy” Mandala Putra, the youngest son of former dictator Suharto, to the slaying of a Supreme Court judge in July.
Jakarta police spokesman Anton Bahrul Alam said other suspects in the murder case “have clearly implicated Tommy.”
The killing of Judge Syaifudin Kartasasmita was another blow to the country’s tarnished judicial system. Kartasasmita last year sentenced Tommy to 18 months in jail for graft. Tommy was on the run until his capture this week.
