Securing Our Borders

Re “INS Fugitives to Be Listed on FBI Database,” Dec. 6: Bravo to INS Commissioner James Ziglar for finally sharing data on immigration fugitives with the FBI. Too bad that Michele Waslin, a policy analyst with the National Council of La Raza, gets upset whenever we see some kind of collaboration between local law enforcement and the INS. Why shouldn’t one agency work with another--are we not one country? Now we only need to fully fund the effort.

Sept. 11 did not result from a failure of airport security but came about because we failed to secure our borders. Too much attention is being focused on the former and not nearly enough on the latter.
