FBI Declines Request to Investigate Activists
The FBI has declined a request to pursue federal criminal charges against two AIDS protesters who are accused of making harassing and obscene telephone calls to newspaper reporters and public health officials.
A researcher from UC San Francisco asked the FBI to investigate Michael Petrelis and David Pasquarelli under the new domestic terrorism law signed by President Bush after the Sept. 11 attacks.
Petrelis and Pasquarelli are being held in County Jail in San Francisco, in lieu of $500,000 bail each, on state charges of stalking, criminal conspiracy and making terrorist threats.
