From Times Wire Reports

Hundreds of Iranian students protested against a judicial crackdown on reforms and what they called President Mohammad Khatami’s inability to protect the rights of jailed reformers.

Families of students and dissident intellectuals held by the authorities without trial, many of whom have spent long periods in solitary confinement, also attended the indoor meeting at Amir Kabir University of Technology in Tehran.

A student leader told the assembly that more than 100 students are either languishing in jail or have been summoned to various courts since Khatami was first elected in 1997.
