Prime Minister Names New 33-Member Cabinet

Syria’s prime minister formed a new 33-member Cabinet charged with boosting the country’s ailing economy.
Mohammed Mustafa Miro brought in 18 new ministers, canceled four ministries and added a new one to the Cabinet dominated by the ruling Baath party.
Several members of the former Cabinet retained their posts.
Miro, who also led the previous Cabinet, eliminated the ministries of foreign affairs and planning and two state ministries. He created a ministry to handle expatriates’ affairs.
