On the court: a tremendous talent. Off the court: When will he grow up? When will he become an adult? Does he seriously believe all Laker fans enjoy his childish antics, the loony hats, mumbling unintelligible, smart-aleck comments, and his egocentric antics at the microphones? I question the media’s maturity in goading, encouraging and laughing at his inane behavior.

Kobe Bryant got married and apparently has become a responsible, respectable adult. At 23, his demeanor and actions show a maturity far surpassing his 29-year-old “older brother.”

Need I name him?

Perhaps someone should mention to Phil Jackson that sitting Kobe Bryant for crucial minutes in the fourth quarter of both recent losses might not be the best way to make up a deficit. The Zen disaster has apparently gotten Kobe to defer so much that Bryant is even giving up his Staples parking space to the usher.

What has made the Lakers special hasn’t been the incense, the library books or the giving-till-it-hurts mentality. Rather, what has made the Lakers great is having the two best players on the planet put the ball in the hole. The Lakers are boring, in love with each other and struggling. Come on, Phil, let Kobe do what he does best and let’s start the parade, huh?
