U.S. Northern Border Keeps Canada Secure

Share

Re “Filling in the Holes on a Porous Border,” Dec. 16: Many Americans are sleeping better tonight knowing that their northern border is more secure. So are the Canadians, apparently. After talking to a friend of mine in Ontario, he assured me that Canadians are in full support of the beefed-up security. It turns out they are worried about Americans getting into Canada.

As Americans are dealing with the horrific terrorist attacks, the anthrax scare, the notoriously high crime and murder rate, terrible health care, unbelievably inflated prescription drug prices for seniors, a terrible education system, an overall low standard of living (compared to other industrialized nations), a lower life expectancy and higher infant mortality rate, many Canadians are afraid that their American neighbors will suddenly come to realize what they are missing out on.

Most, like my friend, want it to remain a secret.
