Ford Motor Co. will pay 23 black workers $300,000 to settle a federal racial harassment lawsuit over nooses hung on a forklift and other incidents at one of its plants, the government said.

Ford also agreed to provide training on diversity and racial harassment, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which sued on behalf of the workers at the Michigan facility.

The auto maker “has assured the EEOC that it will take a hard-line approach to complaints of racial harassment and use disciplinary measures sufficient to achieve its goal of eliminating racial harassment in the Allen Park facility,” the commission said.
