Escaping Media Glare

Those liquid crystal displays on devices such as digital cameras tend to be useless in bright sunlight. Fortunately, you can buy a little doodad that will shield the display from the sun and won’t interfere with camera operations.

Hoodman Corp. in Hermosa Beach makes a staggering variety of hoods that will work with anything from a laptop computer to a digital video camera. Typically, the hood will fold flat. When it’s needed, you simply slap a Velcro tab together and attach it to your device.
