Students to Share Views About Prejudice

Share

More than 200 seventh-grade students of all faiths are expected to gather at the University of Judaism in Bel-Air on Monday for the fifth annual Prejudice Awareness Summit.

In an effort to foster honest dialogue, students will break into groups to confront their own feelings on race and prejudice. The sessions will be led by students from the University of Judaism who have been trained as facilitators.

“This is much more than a day away from the classroom for these seventh-graders. In a very hands-on way, they get to interact and see how hurtful prejudice can be,” said Bryan Pisetsky, co-chairman of the event.

The forum will feature a keynote address by Terrence J. Roberts, one of nine students who integrated a high school in Little Rock, Ark., in 1957 in one of the most historic moments of the civil rights movement. For further information on the University of Judaism, call (310) 476-9777.
