Fiery Suicide by Falun Gong Member

A member of the Falun Gong spiritual movement outlawed by China committed suicide by setting himself on fire, and a note found near his body said followers must sacrifice themselves for the sect, state media reported.

Tan Yihui, 25, a shoe shiner who traveled 870 miles from his home in southern China, doused himself with gasoline on a Beijing street and ignited it, the New China News Agency said. It said Tan was dead when police arrived minutes later.
