Korfman Leaves Hospital

UC Irvine center David Korfman was released Thursday from Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, but a university spokesman said several more tests are planned to determine why the 7-foot-2 junior blacked out Monday while lifting weights. Korfman hit the back of his head on a wall in the weight room after he passed out and needed a surgical procedure to relieve pressure on his brain caused by blood buildup.

Coach Pat Douglass, in Stockton where the Anteaters play Pacific Saturday night, said there is no timetable for Korfman’s return.

Thursday, Stanislaus Zuzak turned his right ankle during practice and left on crutches. With Korfman out, Zuzak, who will be reevaluated today, was expected to see more playing time.
