Though uncommon in most workplaces, creative perks are still in high demand, a new study shows.
According to a random survey of 632 men and women by Trumbull, Conn.-based Oxford Health Plans Inc., only 29% of U.S. companies offer their employees healthy lunches or dinners, but at those companies, 84% of workers take advantage of the benefit.
Thirteen percent of employers have a meditation room on their premises, and 55% of their employees use them.
Although only 18% of businesses provide health club memberships, 72% of employees join, the health maintenance organization said.
“Our findings show that these perks should no longer be considered alternatives, but mainstays since they are well-accepted among workers and demonstrate an employer’s commitment to promoting wellness in the workplace,” said Dr. Alan Muney, chief medical officer and executive vice president at Oxford.
