Forecast Is Clear for Long Weekend

The first winter storm of the season moved out of Southern California on Friday, setting the stage for dry and clear conditions for the long holiday weekend, forecasters said.

“You can expect it to be dry for the next five days,” said Eric Edge, a meteorologist for Weather Central Inc., which provides forecast information for The Times. “No rain or snow is expected.”

Patchy fog along the coast and inland areas should give way to mostly sunny skies on Saturday afternoon, Edge said. Motorists should use tire chains if they plan to travel to mountain areas where lingering snow may be on roadways early today.

On Sunday, predictions call for mostly sunny skies with increasing clouds in the late afternoon. Partly cloudy skies with increasing gusty winds, particularly through the canyons and passes, are forecast for Monday, Martin Luther King Day. High temperatures in the low to mid-60s are predicted for all three days.
