‘Tommy’ Suharto Linked to Bombs
An Indonesian woman caught carrying three homemade bombs at a recreational park in Jakarta, the capital, has alleged that former President Suharto’s fugitive son gave her the devices, police reported. The purported allegation by the suspect, who was arrested Friday, put enormous pressure on police to catch Hutomo “Tommy” Mandala Putra, who has been on the run since early November after refusing to serve an 18-month jail term for corruption. A lawyer for Tommy immediately cast doubt on the allegation by the suspect, Eliza Maria Tuwahatu, 33.
