Charles H. Maguire; Movie Producer

Charles H. Maguire, 73, motion picture production executive who produced such films as Kenneth Branagh’s “Dead Again.” Maguire, who grew up in New York and attended Fordham University, got his start in the business as a prop man.

Tutored by director Robert Aldrich, Maguire became an assistant director to Elia Kazan for “On the Waterfront” and worked with Kazan on other pictures, including “A Face in the Crowd,” “Baby Doll” and “The Arrangement.” Maguire came to Hollywood in the mid-1960s as an associate producer, working on such films as “Fail Safe” and “The Sand Pebbles.” He worked with Warren Beatty on a number of films, including “Splendor in the Grass” and “Shampoo.” Maguire spent the 1980s as production vice president at Paramount Pictures and then Lucasfilm. In the early 1990s, he was executive producer of “Patriot Games,” starring Harrison Ford.
