Tongula Overstreet’s family made a somber visit to a funeral home in Chicago as they tried to come to terms with her death in one of the state’s worst auto collisions.
Overstreet was one of 10 people killed last week when a Salvation Army van rolled across a median on Interstate 55 and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. The van was carrying friends and family members to visit inmates in two prisons in Dwight and Pontiac.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are working with Illinois State Police to recreate events leading up to the crash, state police Master Sgt. Moses Clay said.
