Playa Vista

* Re “Connell Enters Playa Vista Fray,” Jan. 18: As a 47-year resident of Westchester, I believe I had the right to stand up and speak in favor of Playa Vista, a project our community believes in. At Controller Kathleen Connell’s public hearing, however, she ignored me and the many Playa Vista supporters who spent three hours waiting to be heard.

She called on people who don’t live here to speak about a project they know nothing about. To Connell this whole issue might be about getting votes or increasing her visibility, but to us it is much more than that--it is about doing what’s best for our community. We had a right to say that we support Playa Vista on the record. Obviously, Connell doesn’t care what our community really thinks.
