Tax Rebates Better Spent on Real Needs

“Ahead of Tax Break, All Quiet on Retail Front” [June 25] reports that people will be spending their tax rebate checks on expensive shoes and video games and cosmetics.

Thank goodness the government did not keep that money to spend on crazy schemes like improved Social Security or schools or (gulp) universal health care.
