Mideast Clashes
It was very sad to read a full page about how Israelis are coping with life today, taking vacations, sipping lattes while sunning on the beach, etc. (“War Eats at Soul of Israel,” July 3). Would you now devote a page to the Palestinian side to see how they are coping with the occupation?

Re “Powell Wins Accord for 7-Day ‘Calm,’ ” June 29: To insist on a week, or any other period, of absolute nonviolence as a condition of resuming peace talks is to give every individual Israeli and Arab in the region the power to veto such talks. That is simply nonsensical.
