Jon Favreau’s “Made” features himself, far right, and his “Swingers” co-star Vince Vaughn, center, in a comedy set in New York about two lifelong friends who have different ideas about their futures. Also: Reese Witherspoon headlines the comedy “Legally Blonde” as a California golden girl who discovers she’ll have to get into Harvard Law School if she is to win her beau (Matthew Davis) away from his prep-school girlfriend. Opens Friday.

Theater

Luis Valdez will direct the first Los Angeles revival of his landmark play, “Zoot Suit,” since its premiere in 1978. Presented by L.A. Theatre Works as a live radio drama, the provocative mix of fact and fiction was inspired by the 1943 Los Angeles Sleepy Lagoon murder case that sparked the Zoot Suit Riots. Wednesday through next Sunday at L.A.’s Skirball Cultural Center.

Music

Emmanuel Krivine opens the 2001 Tuesday-Thursday series at the Hollywood Bowl this week, leading the L.A. Philharmonic in a Gersh-win-Bizet agenda and a Rach-maninoff and Rimsky-Korsakov pro-gram. The French conductor’s soloists will be American mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer on Tuesday, and Argentine pianist Sergio Tiempo--on Rachmani-noff’s Third Concerto--Thursday.

Dance

Blending film images by Kenneth Hughes and choreography by Kitty McNamee, the local Hysterica Dance Company presents the premiere of “Threads” next Sunday at the John Anson Ford Amphi-theatre in Hollywood as part of the Summer Nights series. Original music by Tim Labor accompanies this contemporary full-evening statement about human connection.

Pop Music

Air, below, might be associated with the duo’s hometown of Paris, but Los Angeles also played its part in the new album, “10,000 Hz. Legend.” Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel added the orchestral arrangements in L.A. studios, and homeboy Beck made his vocal contributions. Who knows who might show during Air’s Tuesday-through-Thursday run at Los Angeles’ Mayan Theatre?

Two new shows survey one of the greatest photographers America has produced as “Walker Evans & Company: Works From the Museum of Modern Art” and “The American Tradition and Walker Evans: Photographs From the Getty Collection” open Tuesday at the J. Paul Getty Museum in L.A. Left: “Young Man in Casual Business Attire” (1963).

Jazz

The Hollywood Bowl kicks off its Wednesday jazz series with a Latin flair. Cuban jazz bassist and bandleader Cachao and five-time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri headline. Jazz flutist Dave Valentin, a former musical director for the great Tito Puente, joins Palmieri’s Afro-Cuban ensemble for the evening, while L.A.’s favorite conguero , Poncho Sanchez, is the host.
