From Times Wire Reports

A typhoon killed at least 121 people and left 44 missing in a sweep across the northern Philippines last week, the civil defense office said today.

In addition, about 130 people were injured when Typhoon Utor pounded 20 provinces of the main Philippine island of Luzon with winds gusting up to 106 mph, the office said.

The storm also sideswiped Taiwan, where the official death toll is one, but seven missing fishermen have yet to be found and are presumed dead. On Friday, Utor weakened to a severe tropical storm and hit southern China, where it killed at least two people.
