A look at Tuesday’s third stage of the 88th Tour de France:

Stage--123.27 miles from Antwerp in northern Belgium to Seraing in the south, through the flat Flanders region and the Ardennes hills.

Winner--Erik Zabel, Germany, 4 hours 34 minutes 32 seconds.

How others fared--Two-time defending champion Lance Armstrong was 10th, in the same time as the leader. Australia’s Stuart O’Grady took the overall leader’s yellow jersey.

Quote of the day--”I’m certain that Armstrong has such a strong character that this show of force by our team won’t have a big influence on him,” said Zabel, whose Team Telekom placed two riders in the top 13.
