From Times Wire Reports

Prime Minister Sheik Hasina Wajed left office and was replaced by a caretaker administration that will run the country until elections in October.

The transition touched off more violence between Wajed’s party and the opposition. At least four people were reported killed and 100 injured in street clashes.

President Shahabuddin Ahmed swore in former Chief Justice Latifur Rahman to head the caretaker administration. Under Bangladeshi law, the prime minister steps down and Parliament is dissolved ahead of general elections.
