Reward Offered in Verizon Line-Cutting

Share

Verizon Communications offered a $10,000 reward Monday for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for cutting some some of its telephone lines during the last month.

“The people involved are probably looking to steal the copper and sell it as scrap,” said Jerry Uhler, an investigator for Verizon.

The most recent incident occurred Sunday in Bel Air, where a 750-foot active underground cable serving 900 customers was cut. On June 7, a 170-foot underground cable serving 200 customers was cut in Pomona and stolen. Similar vandalism has occurred in Riverside County, Wilson said.
