Water levels began dropping Thursday after floods from a series of storms swept through the area, leaving three people dead.

The lower water levels eased rush-hour commutes.

On Wednesday, authorities recovered the body of Monica Kuchmar, 16, who was swept away by raging flood waters Tuesday. Kuchmar was carried away after she climbed out of a sport-utility vehicle that was stalled in high water near Loveland, about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

Flooding also led to the deaths of Ronald Davenport, 48, and his daughter, Anna, 21, in suburban Fairfax. They were found in at least 7 feet of water after a rapidly rising creek knocked in part of a basement wall of their home.

Flash floods also interrupted power to 26,000 customers and forced many residents from their homes. By Thursday, only a few scattered power outages remained.
