Re “Pope Urges Bush to Reject Human Embryo Cell Research,” July 24: Human embryos, with no chance of eventual infancy and birth, have not yet developed self-consciousness and intelligence. To sensitively use their stem cells to further the lives of human persons, with developed relationships and purposeful lives, would seem to be a holy, not sinful, act.
