In its effort to promote good citizenship and behavior among youngsters, the Police Department is holding a planting day today to teach children at a mobile-home park about gardening.

The event is part of the Junior Children of Pride program, or Jr. C.O.P. Its aim is to get parents, children and the community more involved with each other and lead to better school performance and good citizenship.

The planting day is organized by police and Westend Community Oriented Police, a neighborhood crime-prevention organization. The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at Holiday Mobile Estates, 3434 W. Washington Ave.
