Policewoman Caught in Arresting Pose

Share

As if the LAPD didn’t have enough on its mind (“LAPD Officer Poses for Playboy,” May 30)! Allowing officers, male or female, to pose nude in any publication is beyond absurd. The emperor’s new police force this is not. Can’t we just call it like it is, instead of hiding behind the live-and-let-live nonsense mentality that has succeeded in degrading our moral barometers to the point where we’d even consider the notion?

The message being sent to future female officers is equally absurd. Women have been fighting for equality forever, but giving Barbie a gun and a center spread doesn’t exactly further the cause. How much respect will be shown to female candidates as a result of this photojournalistic eye-candy ride-along? Try zero, for starters.

The ridiculous, “Oh, it’s about the beauty of the human form,” argument is pure drivel. It’s about making things much harder in the public relations department for a beleaguered police force served by hard-working men and women who are hired to risk their lives daily.
