Tornado Injures 6, Damages Downtown
A tornado hammered the southern Kentucky community of London but caused no life-threatening injuries, even though it severely damaged a downtown shopping center, authorities said.
Marymount Medical Center officials reported that six people were treated for injuries.
“Considering all the damage in that area, I guess you could say we were pretty lucky that no one was badly hurt,” State Police spokesman Scott Miller said.
Miller said the tornado leveled several businesses in the Carnaby Square shopping center and nearby homes within a 300-yard swath.
