Restricted Travel Into Israel Prevents Terror
“Israel Keeping All Palestinians at Bay” (June 6) refers to Israel’s denying entry to Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza as “draconian,” a word defined by Webster’s dictionary as “inhumanely cruel and severe.”
Rather than retaliating militarily after the tragic terrorist bomb in Tel Aviv, Israel has closed its borders in an attempt to stop other loss of life. Even though I am a long-standing advocate of peace in the Middle East, I understand that response and fail to see why protecting its citizens should be deemed inhumane.

Re “U.S. Protests Curbs on Arab Americans,” June 7: The detail you lavished on the almost-resolved issue of Israeli travel restrictions on Palestinians with American citizenship stands in stark contrast to the silence on the issue of Palestinian murder of Israelis with American citizenship. Has our government been quiet on the issue, or is it just not deemed newsworthy by The Times?
