The cars and guitars of rock music stars are the focus of the Petersen Automotive Museum’s annual gala fund raiser Thursday night. Celebrity hosts will be Jay Leno of TV’s “The Tonight Show” and guitarist Billy Gibbons of rock group ZZ Top.

The $200-per-person event kicks off the public exhibit “Cars & Guitars of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” opening Friday at the museum, 6060 Wilshire Blvd. The show will feature classic and custom cars and guitars, jukeboxes and memorabilia. Thursday’s fund-raiser, from 6 to 10 p.m., will benefit the museum’s educational programs and the May Family Children’s Discovery Center. For more information or for tickets, call (323) 964-6366.
