Testing for All

Re “Goodbye Critical Thinking, Hello to Testing in Lieu of Reform,” Commentary, June 11: The social value of public education is to guarantee literacy, promote good citizenship and prepare a competent work force. Rather than test only those who have recently been exposed to our schools, why not do follow-up testing on all the beneficiaries. Send the exit exam to every U.S. citizen who has spent 12 years in public schools. Publish the results.
