Update--The Sparks are one win away from the WNBA record for most consecutive victories at the start of a season. New York won its first seven in 1997 and Houston went 7-0 in 1999. Tonight’s foe, the Storm, which had been averaging 70 points a game, was thrashed in Seattle on Thursday by Cleveland, 58-36. The Rockers held the Storm to a WNBA-record nine points in the second half. After scoring 28 points Tuesday, Seattle rookie Semeka Randall had eight, on four-for-12 shooting. Tonight’s matchup is the first in a back-to-back weekend. At Staples Center on Sunday, L.A. plays Jackie Stiles and the Portland Fire at 6:30 p.m. After their 84-68 victory over Orlando on Thursday, the Sparks have won 34 of their last 38 regular-season games.
