3rd Man Questioned in U.S. Embassy Bomb Plot
Indian police said they arrested another member of a group linked to Saudi fugitive Osama bin Laden, which they suspect of planning to bomb the U.S. embassies in India and Bangladesh.
A police officer said the man, identified as Abbas Sheik, was picked up in the western city of Udaipur.
His detention followed police questioning of two men, including a Sudanese citizen, arrested in New Delhi on Friday allegedly carrying explosives.
Police said they hoped to arrest more accomplices.
Abbas, a car mechanic at a garage near Udaipur’s main bus stand, did not have any criminal record, said M.M. Atre, Udaipur’s superintendent of police.
