Infiniti’s new rear-wheel-drive G35 sports sedan won’t be available until next spring, but here’s a first look at the car, which is based on the Nissan Skyline GTR--a screamer that the company so far has limited to its home market in Japan. Power will come from the new 3.5-liter V-6 that gives the 2002 Nissan Maxima and Infiniti I35, both due out this fall, an impressive 260 horsepower. Details about the G35 are being kept under wraps, but expect a few more ponies, a close-ratio six-speed manual and an optional four-speed shiftable automatic, 17-inch or larger wheels and high performance tires. One thing the company will say: This isn’t a replacement for the entry-level G20.
