Clean and Sober

“Bolster the Drug Courts” (editorial, June 20) is very nice and positive, but why should a user who’s harming only himself be subjected to involuntary treatment? Right now we don’t make sufficient resources available to provide treatment on demand to those who want it. People would be lining up around the block for free voluntary treatment if no “drug history” were made public or went to the police.

Let’s get serious about treatment and education before we squander money on those who aren’t yet ready to be clean and sober.
