Zomba Music, EMI in Distribution Talks

Zomba Music Group, home to ‘N Sync and Britney Spears, is in talks with EMI Group about a possible distribution agreement in the U.S., sources said. The move would be a coup for the British conglomerate, which distributes Zomba’s music in many other regions around the world, and a blow to Bertelsmann Music Group, which has relied on Zomba recordings to prop up its U.S. market share for nearly a decade. New York-based Zomba notified BMG in March that it won’t renew its distribution pact in Canada following a dispute over the future structure of the deal.
