Man Sets Himself Ablaze at Legislature
A man set himself on fire in Hong Kong’s legislative chamber after dropping off a letter with a litany of complaints focusing on troubles in the restaurant industry.
Three guards sprayed the man with foam from fire extinguishers. He was hospitalized in critical condition. Police identified the man only by his surname, Sun.
The man’s letter mentioned restaurant sewage charges and the plight of those in the Chinese territory who are living in apartments that are now worth less than what they owe on their mortgages.
