StarLink Corn

* I want to applaud The Times for its March 9 editorial, “Modify Biotech’s Sales Pitch Too.” More attention, especially from the Bush administration, must be given to the issue.

However, the editorial noted that Greenpeace found the genetically modified corn known as StarLink in taco shells. While Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace both work tirelessly for a cleaner and healthier environment, Larry Bohlen, director of the Community Health and Environment program at Friends of the Earth, deserves the key credit. It was Bohlen who went to his local supermarket, purchased the taco shells and ordered the tests.
