Arundo Donax
* Re “Natural Enemy: Officials Struggle to Control Invasion of Waterways by Nonnative Plant,” March 12.
Thank you for informing us of this natural enemy, arundo donax. I was unaware of a task force to battle this scourge.
It is choking the Ventura River, and it is the ugliest sight in the Ojai Valley. Along with the smell of the sewage from upstream, the masses of arundo give the Ventura River the ambience of a third-world country.
Thanks to Peggy Rose and others for their efforts to rid the Ventura River watershed of arundo. Please continue to keep us informed and let us know how we can help.
