Wine of the Week

A benchmark Barbera from a producer known for his Barolo, Matteo Coreggia. It’s full of ripe, velvety fruit; the first taste suggests juicy red plums and black cherries, but there’s also an underlying complexity and earthiness that make this more than just another pleasant red. It’s a tribute to a great vintage, skilled winemaking and the magical Piedmont terroir.

About $26. Available at Hi-Time Wine Cellars, Costa Mesa, (949) 650-8463; The Wine Exchange in Orange, (714) 974-1454; and Wally’s in West L.A., (310) 475-0606.
