LAKERS 112, KINGS 110 (OT)

* Nov. 16, 2000, Arco Arena--Kobe Bryant, who made nine of 23 shots, made a three-pointer with 2.3 seconds remaining to force the overtime, then scored eight of the Lakers’ 10 points in the extra period. He finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Shaquille O’Neal had 33 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, and reserve Isaiah “J.R.” Rider scored 14 points in 26 minutes. The Kings’ Chris Webber sat out because of a sprained right ankle, leaving the Sacramento offense to Doug Christie (32 points) and Peja Stojakovic (29 points).

LAKERS 100, KINGS 94

* Feb. 4, 2001, Staples Center--Laker reserve Greg Foster scored a season-high 13 points, 11 in the first quarter, then said, “We played with some heart. At some point, we’ve got to have some freakin’ fun.” O’Neal did not play because of a sore arch and Bryant played conservatively because of a sore hip. That led to Foster’s points, as well as Robert Horry’s 20. Webber missed 20 of 32 shots, among them two dunks, then groused about the officials. Hounded by Rick Fox, Stojakovic scored seven points.

LAKERS 84, KINGS 72

* March 25, 2001, Arco Arena--Their fans dressed as cows in an attempt to mock Laker Coach Phil Jackson, the Kings missed 15 consecutive shots in the fourth quarter, blowing a seven-point lead and the game. O’Neal scored 11 points in an 18-0 run by the Lakers, who played without Bryant, who was sidelined because of a strained left ankle. King Coach Rick Adelman had the flu and was not on the sideline. Webber missed some early shots, did not get some calls he wanted and finished with 15 points on seven-of-26 shooting. He scored two points in the fourth quarter, when the Lakers pulled away.

KINGS 108, LAKERS 84

* March 28, 2001, Staples Center--At the end of the blowout, those left in the arena chanted, “Kobe! Kobe!,” just to remind him how much they missed him. O’Neal scored 33 points, but no other Laker had as many as 13. Bryant was seven games from returning from his ankle injury, and the Lakers never looked in worse shape. It was their fourth loss in six games, one a 21-point loss at Phoenix two days earlier. Webber had 25 points and 12 rebounds and Stojakovic scored 22 points.
