A man who fled to Mexico 17 years ago pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Lancaster Superior Court to charges that he killed his boss and a fellow worker at an Antelope Valley ranch in 1984, authorities said.
Josif Jurcoane, 51, was extradited from Mexico to the United States on April 27 after prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty, Deputy Dist. Atty. Rouman Ebrahim said.
A preliminary hearing is set for May 16 at Lancaster Superior Court. Jurcoane, if convicted, faces life in prison without parole, Ebrahim said.
