In “Fresh Air for GOP in Green Card Plan” (Commentary, May 6) Frank del Olmo repeated the myth that the provisions of Prop. 187 were found unconstitutional by a federal judge. The implication is that the U.S. Constitution gives illegal immigrants the right to public services. This is not true, as Del Olmo must know. What the judge found was that the Constitution gave the sole power to pass laws dealing with illegal immigrants to the federal government and that the citizens of California did not have that right.
