Boys & Girls Club Names New Director

Robert J. Dyer has been hired as the newest executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura, succeeding Jane Goldshcmidt, who retired after 13 years on the job.

Dyer, a youth development professional since 1967, was previously executive director at the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club, one of more than two dozen branches of the organization in Los Angeles County. He will now oversee Ventura’s operation, which includes three facilities serving more than 2,000 children with after-school homework help, sports and other activities.

Dyer’s experience includes administrative work for Camp Fire Council of the Foothills in Monrovia and Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Expanding the club’s programs to more places, possibly including churches and schools, is among Dyer’s first priorities.
